DETROIT, Mich. (July 11, 2024) – The Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has signed guard Malik Beasley to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Beasley, 6-4, 187, is an eight-year NBA veteran and has appeared in 496 career games (191 starts) for Denver, Minnesota, Utah, Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee. The 27-year-old guard holds career averages of 10.9 points (.385 3FG), 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 23.1 minutes per game. Beasley has also appeared in 37 career playoff games and averaged 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 16.8 minutes per game.
The Atlanta native spent last season with the Milwaukee Bucks and averaged 11.3 points 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 44.3% from the field and 41.3% from 3-point range across 79 games (77 starts). Beasley ranked 10th in the NBA last season among guards with 224 made 3-pointers and participated in the 2023-24 NBA 3-point competition in Indianapolis during All-Star Weekend.
The 19th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets, Beasley spent four seasons in Denver where he was a candidate for NBA Sixth Man of the Year and Most Improved Player in 2019. Prior to the NBA, he played one season at Florida State University and averaged 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists on his way to First Team Freshman All-ACC honors.
