DETROIT, Mich. (July 6, 2024) – The Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has signed guard Daniss Jenkins to a two-way contract.
Jenkins, 6-4, 185, averaged a team-high 14.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.6 steals in 33 games (all starts) for St. John’s last season, earning All-Big East Second Team, All-Big East Tournament Team and All-Met First Team honors. Prior to St. John’s, Jenkins played the 2022-23 season at Iona and averaged a career-high 15.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.4 steals in 35 games (all starts). He led the Gaels to an NCAA Tournament appearance after winning both the Metro Atlantic Athletic (MAAC) regular season and tournament titles and earning All-MAAC Conference honors.
Jenkins began his collegiate career at University of the Pacific, where he played two seasons (2019-21) and averaged 8.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 50 games (41 starts). He spent the 2021-22 season playing at Odessa College, where he averaged 15.0 points and 5.3 assists in 34 games to garner NJCAA Division I All-America First Team honors.
A native of Dallas, TX, Jenkins starred at Dallas Hillcrest High School and averaged 24.5 points, 7.1 assists, 3.5 steals and 2.0 blocks as a senior. He was named Dallas Independent School District (ISD) Offensive Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Dallas ISD Most Valuable Player.
