Over 85 Partners Support the First Grand Prix on the Streets of Detroit in 32 Years
DETROIT, Mich. (May 29, 2023) – As the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear returns to the Streets of Downtown Detroit for the first time since 1991, the event will enjoy unprecedented partner support. A total of 86 local and national corporate partners are behind the return of the event to its original home in Downtown Detroit, surpassing the previous high of 75 companies during the 2019 Grand Prix. This year’s partnership portfolio includes a record 32 sponsors that are new to the Grand Prix in 2023.
This year’s impressive collection of partners has worked collaboratively with Grand Prix organizers as the popular summertime festival ushers in a new era in 2023 focused on community giveback, sustainability, youth enrichment, small business empowerment, and arts, culture and entrepreneurship across the City of Detroit. The Grand Prix’s partners will be highlighted in numerous ways over the course of the upcoming June 2-4 race weekend, including on-track signage throughout the race venue, world-class hospitality suites for entertaining clients and employees and invaluable business-to-business opportunities with other event sponsors.
“We can’t thank all 86 of our partners enough for their unwavering support of the 2023 Grand Prix as the event returns to its original home in Downtown Detroit,” said Michael Montri, President of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. “These incredible companies and their commitment to the Grand Prix, as well as Detroit, will help us host an amazing event that will allow the Motor City to shine like never before. This year’s Grand Prix will be more inclusive, more sustainable and more impactful to the city and our entire region, thanks to the incredible support of our partners.”
Bolstered by the commitment of its partners, the Grand Prix will offer more accessibility than ever before with more than half of the event’s footprint open to fans for free all weekend long. Partner support has also allowed the Grand Prix to create opportunities for neighborhoods and businesses across the city to benefit from the event. For example, the unique Small Business Straightaway in Cadillac Square will feature nearly 30 locally-owned and operated businesses from each district in Detroit on Saturday and Sunday, thanks to the support of the Grand Prix’s Community Partners.
Led by the commitment of title sponsor Chevrolet, which helped bring auto racing back to Detroit in 2012, the Grand Prix is proud of the event’s charitable tradition and its positive impact across Southeast Michigan and beyond. Fans attending the Grand Prix will witness the distinctive Chevrolet branding around the new circuit, including the Chevrolet pedestrian bridge over the racecourse on Jefferson Avenue – connecting popular activation areas in Spirit Plaza and Hart Plaza, along with the bridges between Turns 8 and 9 on St. Antoine and over the unique two-sided pit lane alongside Franklin Street. The interactive Chevrolet display will be featured in Spirit Plaza, which will allow Grand Prix attendees to experience Chevy’s technology as well as some of the Detroit-based auto manufacturer’s top vehicles.
Lear Corporation – a Grand Prix partner since 2015 – returns as presenting sponsor of the event in 2023. The world headquarters of the global automotive technology leading company is located just outside of Detroit in Southfield, Michigan. Lear Corporation will be well represented with its branding in Turn 6 near the Center Garage. Lear is also a proud sponsor of the Detroit Grand Prix Association (DGPA), the event’s official volunteer organization. Founded in 1983, the DGPA has established itself as one of the top volunteer organizations across all sports.
In addition to its 32 new partners in 2023, the Grand Prix is proud of the long-lasting relationships the event has cultivated with its partners over the years. A total of 22 current partners have helped support the Grand Prix since 2012 and 29 sponsors have stepped up to increase their level of commitment for this year’s event.
