Pitcher Georgina Corrick earned her first NFCA All-America honors, becoming the 10th player in program history to be named an All-American
TAMPA, MAY 29, 2019 – USF pitcher Georgina Corrick was named an NFCA Second Team All-American on Wednesday evening.
The Sanford, Fla., native receives this honor as just a sophomore after breaking into the USF record books during the 2019 season. Corrick ranks in the top 10 in three career categories, five single-season categories and currently ranks in the top 25 nationally in five statistical categories.
Corrick finished her sophomore campaign with 25 wins, 260 strikeouts, 11 shutouts, a 1.14 ERA and .167 opponent batting average. The British National Team pitcher has the eighth-most strikeouts in USF history with 424 and ranks sixth in a single season after reaching 260 this year. She delivered 25 wins, good for seventh in a single season at USF, and sits seventh all-time for shutouts with 14. Corrick’s 11 shutouts this season rank eighth in the nation.
The American Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season, reached a single-game high of 16 strikeouts against conference opponent Tulsa, one of 10 double-digit strikeout performances for Corrick. She finished with 21 complete games, going to extra-innings five times, and 10-plus innings twice.
Corrick was selected to The American All-Conference First Team for the second time in her career and was the league’s pitcher of the week six times in 2019. The right-handed ace was also named a USA Softball Player of the Year Top 26 Finalist and received NFCA All-Region First Team honors.
Corrick joins the ranks of nine other All-Americans from USF softball, six on the second team, dating back to 1986. The most recent selection was designated player/pitcher Erica Nunn in 2016 who was also named to the second team. USF Athletics and USF Softball Hall of Famers Sara Nevins and Monica Triner are also on the list.
