Coral Springs observes Memorial Day

The City of Coral Springs held a Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Park on May 29. Military veterans and the families of veterans came together to honor the veterans who died while serving the the United States and protecting the lives and freedom of U.S. citizens.
The Coral Springs Civil Air Patrol presented the colors and placed a wreath to honor the veterans. The Police Honor Guard gave a salute volley and a trumpeter played taps. Colonel Jay Siegel a retired U.S. Army Colonel was the featured speaker. A veteran of the Vietnam war, he shared some stories from his experience. Siegel encouraged everyone present to honor and respect veterans for the many sacrifices they have make to keep the U.S. citizens free.
Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook spoke. He encouraged everyone present to honor and respect military veterans for the efforts and sacrifices they have made to keep the U.S. free. Tony Bianco, Coral Springs Veterans Coalition president led the ceremony and encouraged people to honor veterans. Vice Mayor Shawn Cerra led the pledge of allegiance and Pastor Randal Cutter led the invocation and the benediction.
Memorial Day is observed throughout the United States to honor military personnel who died while serving the nation in uniform. It is often considered the first day of summer and many families and friends come together and have some fellowship time.
