The Coral Springs basketball team is doing very well at midseason. During the recent Sunshine State Explosion basketball tournament, the Colts defeated Pine Forest 77 to 74 and Royal Palm Beach 52 to 42. Against Royal Palm Beach Greg Spate scored 13 points and against Pine Forest, Allen Mattieu scored 27 points. The Colts are 8-2. Right after holiday break they will have some very strong competition against Cardinal Gibbons, Nova, Boyd Anderson and Dillard.
Coach Devin Barta is pleased with his team but said they need to play consistently well to win. “We have to play well the entire 32 minute game,” he said. Greg Spate, Allen Mattieu and Jonathan Fils are all playing well at mid-season. The Coral Springs basketball team is a team to watch. The Colts may qualify for the Big Eight tournament which includes very elite Broward teams. And the Colts could advance far in the state tournament.
