PARIS, France – A couple of Gators were on the track Monday, advancing from the opening round of 200 meters action. UF Assistant Coach Rhyne Howard closed her Olympics winning bronze with the U.S. 3×3 basketball team.

Track and Field
Fans of Florida track and field were treated to an incredible five minutes on Monday afternoon, when Joseph Fahnbulleh</roster.aspx?rp_id=17022> and Wanya McCoy</roster.aspx?rp_id=17056> finished first and second in back-to-back heats of the 200m first round,  each securing spots in the semifinal.

Fahnbulleh opened the action in heat one, and after coming around the opening turn in the middle of the pack, his long and loping strides powered him (and his signature shades) ahead of the rest of the competition to cross the line first with a 20.20 time.

McCoy then took the track in Fahnbulleh’s wake, looking to join his fellow Gator in the semifinals. He too came around in a decent position, but his top speed took him ahead to a second-place finish at 20.35, a miniscule .03 seconds behind first.

Both Fahnbulleh and McCoy will hit the track again on Wednesday.
