CFP Foundation, C-USA Continue Partnership in Support of Teachers (Monday, Sept. 13, 2021)

DALLAS – The College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation has again partnered with Conference USA through the Extra Yard for Teachers platform to support teachers throughout the conference’s footprint.

“Conference USA has been a wonderful partner by supporting teachers all across its footprint,” said Britton Banowsky, CFP Foundation Executive Director. “We are thrilled to expand it to include the provision of tuition support for student-athletes from all of C-USA’s member institutions who want to become teachers. Great things can happen when we come together around a focused cause.”

Using a grant from the CFP Foundation, C-USA has once again worked with Michaels to provide gift cards for teachers, allowing them to secure much needed classroom resources. Each of the conference’s 14-member institutions will distribute the gift cards to teachers in their respective market. Together, Conference USA, its member institutions and Michaels have identified schools in need in the following cities:

Charlotte – Charlotte, NC

Florida Atlantic – Boca Raton, FL

FIU – Miami, FL

Louisiana Tech – Ruston, LA

Marshall – Huntington, WV

Middle Tennessee – Murfreesboro, TN

North Texas – Denton, TX

Old Dominion – Norfolk, VA

Rice – Houston, TX

Southern Miss – Hattiesburg, MS

UAB – Birmingham, AL

UTEP – El Paso, TX

UTSA – San Antonio, TX

WKU – Bowling Green, KY

C-USA membership will host on-field presentations on each campus, with a representative from the C-USA institution, an administrator and teachers from the recipient schools. Additional social and digital activations will be executed throughout the season.

In addition, the host institution for the Conference USA Football Championship will award a $2,000 Michaels gift card to a local school district. The championship game will be held on Friday, December 3.
