Bulls Sign Sunshine State Prep Standout Gullikson

Bishop Moore Catholic School star Chase Gullikson won the 2018 Florida Boys Junior Championship and has captured three combined district/regional individual titles in the past three seasons.

TAMPA, NOV. 11, 2020 – USF men’s golf has added another rising star from the Sunshine State as Orlando’s Chase Gullikson signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.

Gullikson officially committed to the Bulls two years after winning the Florida Boys Junior Championship and he’s collected four top-10 finishes on the Florida Junior Tour since 2018.

“I think Chase has that all-around package you’re looking for as a guy on the team, as a teammate, as a student-athlete in the classroom,” head coach Steve Bradley said. “I just think he’s going to be a big part of our team. From a golf point of view, he’s got a lot of potential.”

The Bishop Moore Catholic School standout verbally committed to USF a little more than a year ago. Since then, he won an individual district title and placed fifth at the 2020 Class 2A state tournament, which helped his school post a top-three finish for the fifth consecutive year.

“It’s been nice to see his growth and development since we started recruiting him to where he is right now,” Bradley said. “I look at him as kind of the next Kyle Flexsenhar for us. He’s from the Orlando area. Albeit Kyle is right-handed and Chase is left-handed, they have similar styles of game, similar academic backgrounds, similar demeanors.”

The comparison to Flexsenhar is a huge compliment considering the senior and spring 2020 graduate has had an impressive USF career and is looked at as a leader on the current team. Like Flexsenhar, Gullikson will bring winning experience to the Bulls after capturing his first district individual crown in 2019 and another topping the individual leaderboard at regionals in 2018.

Aside from high school tournaments, Gullikson doesn’t have lots of junior tour experience, but that’s just fine with Bradley.

“He doesn’t play a whole lot of competitive golf, so that will be the next step for him as he continues to improve,” Bradley said. “Just to be exposed to the competition on a day-in, day-out basis, I think it’s really going to grow his game at USF. I’m looking forward to working with him.”
