Broward Public Schools to observe A Day of Service

On Monday, February 14, 2022, Broward County Public Schools will observe A Day of Service and Love in commemoration of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy. Students, staff and volunteers across the District will participate in a variety of volunteer and service projects in remembrance of the 17 students and staff lost and those injured on February 14, 2018.

A Day of Service and Love is an early release day that has been designated as a service-learning day with students, staff and volunteers coming together and supporting each other through community service activities at schools across the county. Projects will focus on the goal of reconnecting with peers, community, nature and self, and emphasizing positive and rewarding relationships, while raising awareness about important and meaningful causes.

Also, on Monday, February 14, at 10:17 a.m., BCPS will observe a moment of reflection in honor of the 17 lives lost.

“Our District remains focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff,” said BCPS Interim Superintendent

Dr. Vickie L. Cartwright. “I am humbled by the grace and courage of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School community and the resilience of all our students and employees.”

A Day of Service and Love is a collaboration with BCPS community partners, including HandsOn Broward, City of Parkland, City of Coral Springs, Children’s Services Council, United Way of Broward County and Interfaith Council.
