Bowe Set for Third Olympics

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Former Florida Atlantic University Women’s Basketball player (2006-10) Brittany Bowe, who is also a 2019 FAU Hall of Fame inductee, is geared up for the 2022 Winter Olympics. The games are set to commence tomorrow, Feb. 4, with the Opening Ceremonies taking place at 7 a.m. Eastern in host city Beijing, China (recorded version will be aired on NBC at 8 p.m.).

Bowe, who will be competing in her third consecutive Winter Olympics, was honored with the opportunity to be one of the two flag bearers for Team USA at the Opening Ceremonies. Men’s curler John Shuster will be carrying the U.S. flag along with Bowe. As a heavy medal favorite at the games, Bowe is slated to compete in three individual events, which include the 500m, 1000m and 1500m.

In January at the U.S. Olympic Speed Skating Trials, Bowe made headlines for her great act of sportsmanship. Bowe had given up her spot in the 500m to her teammate Erin Jackson, who was No. 1 in the world in that event and made a crucial slip to miss out on the games. The U.S. received a last-minute additional spot in that event, so Bowe will still be competing in that event along with Jackson.
