In a game that kept everyone on the edge of their seats, the Villanova Wildcats (6) managed to squeak out a victory against the DePaul Blue Demons (11) last night. Despite being a 24.5 point favorite, Nova struggled to maintain a lead throughout the game, with 12 lead changes and a nail-biting final possession.
Justin Moore’s game-winning 3 pointer with just 8.8 seconds left sealed the deal for Villanova, after DePaul missed an opportunity to ice the game with a good look at the basket. Although DePaul still had a chance to win with a timeout in hand, they elected to push the ball up the court, leading to a turnover by Jalen Terry.
While Nova shot 31.4% from behind the arc, they hit the important ones when it mattered most. DePaul, on the other hand, put together their best 40 minutes of basketball in conference all season long, but fell just short on a night when Nova was not at their peak.
Villanova will play Marquette in the Finale Thursday night with a berth in the Semifinals at stake.
