Bears fans arrogance, and Caleb Williams mommy issues

By: Jacob Christner

Bears fans miss the point on Caleb Williams.

They miss the point on a lot of things.

These aren’t the Bears fans of Ditka. No, those were fun. Don’t get me wrong, there were frustrations from those very same fans when there weren’t more Super Bowls, and that is understandable. Ditka could have given Walter Payton that ball in the Super Bowl instead of Fridge, and he could have handled the QB situation better when McMahon was hurt, but there was an invincibility feel to that team…that they were unbeatable. They’d get back to the Super Bowl 2-3 more times, and Walter would get 200 more yards and 3 TDs!

Obviously, that didn’t happen. Frustrations aside, the fans loved Mike. He was a badass, high strung perfectionist who gave the players, and referees, hell. He did this while winning games and allowing himself to be fun.

The fans understood that. They understood because there was a lot of winning. Four and a half years without a three game losing streak, three NFC title games, eight division titles, and a Super Bowl. The Bears were cool, and they were pop culture. DAAAAAA BEARS is forever(RIP George Wendt).

The last twenty years of fans have been an absolute nightmare, and it leads to the title of this column.

The fanbase of the last 20 years is so desperate to look “cool” at the sacrifice of winning. They want to FORCE cool. If they are winning, but their friends make fun of them for anyone on their roster, especially Quarterback, then Katie bar the door, we MUST replace him. Have a big fourth quarter comeback or a 300 yard game? Doesn’t matter. Media and my friends, and the internet, tell me I have to hate him, so I hate him now. Happened to Kyle Orton for Rex Grossman, and later Jay Cutler. Happened to Lovie Smith for every other coach, and Mitch Trubisky for Justin Fields after two playoff appearances.

Each and every time, more long term losing. No plan…just a new shiny toy to slobber over.

Which brings us to Caleb Williams.

Anyone with a WiFi connection, and an ability to see my content, knows my stance on Caleb. I absolutely, positively, without hesitation, despise the pick. I think he is Roger Goodell’s effeminate wet dream, and he’s a mental midget that will have another meltdown.

So you ask about the first meltdown?

I don’t blame anyone for asking. Media will hide this important detail like they hid Bill Cosby’s indiscretions for about three decades…till they turn on him, then it will be on every version of Outside The Lines ever, with the title “Did the Bears know about Caleb Williams mental illness”?

During a game vs Washington at USC, Caleb went into the stands and absolutely melted down in Mom’s arms while she covered his face. Bawled like a two year old. This is a grown man doing this.

Now athletes cry after losses, don’t get that wrong. They are highly competitive and put everything they have into a battle. Sometimes the tear will flow.

What Caleb did, and Adam Morrison crying before the game was over against UCLA in 2007, should be a crime punishable by revocation of man card. Crying at the level he was crying was a pure meltdown.

And it will happen again…much worse next time. Yet, the Bears saw that and had zero reservations to make him number one.

This is proof that the Bears have such a damaged, desperate, and hopeless front office that aims to please a fanbase that doesn’t deserve to be pleased. To constantly choose your next shiny toy through 30 second TikTok reels, like fans do, then do it again when they turn on the last guy, shows they have know idea what they are talking about, or seeing.

No doubt he has arm talent, but they have to ask themselves these questions.

  1. How will he handle himself in big road games? Philadelphia fans will eat him alive, and he has eight other brutal road games like that.
  2. Why doesn’t his fear of letting the ball go worry fans? He had a near record of sacks, and 53 percent of them were in a clean pocket, and refusing to let the ball go. It doesn’t worry them because they lived off of his TikTok highlights of 60 yard TDs while running around waiting for an open receiver. It doesn’t work like that in the pros. Move around too long and he gets caught, or a blocker gets an eventual holding call.
  3. What happens if and when something happens to any close relative, including Mom? You expect him to be Favre when his Dad died and throw 399? Not a chance…he’ll be out a month, and the media will slobber over his “bravery” to deal with his emotions.

The real QB1 is Tyson Bagent, but the fans will just say the same exact brainless points they use on every QB they don’t prefer.

“He’s boring”!

“Where are the big plays”?!

“When Caleb gets in there, we’ll REALLY start winning”

They did this with Fields, with no background and proof at all, or any winning history.

We know this era’s Bears fans don’t care about winning. There have been TWO 10+ game losing streaks in 18 months, with two bust QBs, but they have YouTube and TikTok highlights, and that is enough.

That’s why the only way the Bears start winning again is sitting, or getting rid of Caleb Williams. It will cause the fans to mutiny, but that doesn’t matter. Making the fans happy makes the team lose every single time.

Chicago, there’s a new stadium coming. It’s important to win now.

Get rid of Caleb Williams.
