FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Led by a pair of home runs in the first inning by Boris Pena and Justin Wachs, as well as a quality start by Collin Rothermel, the Nova Southeastern Sharks Baseball team opened a Sunshine State Conference series with a 6-3 victory over Rollins on Friday evening from the NSU Baseball Complex.

- Justin Wachs blasted his second home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning, quickly giving NSU a 1-0 lead.
- Following a single by Henry Wallen, Boris Pena launched his fourth home run of the season, extending the Sharks advantage to 3-0.
- Rollins responded with a three runs in the top of the second inning.
- NSU added three more runs in the bottom of the second inning, as after Zeth Rodriguez worked a walk and Wachs was hit by a pitch, Wallen singled through the left-side of the infield and drove in Rodriguez.
- Wachs later scored on a wild pitch and the Sharks capped off the three-run frame with a RBI groundout from Bryan Loriga, putting the score at 6-3.
- That was all the offense Rothermel needed, throwing four consecutive shutout innings, earning both a quality start and his fourth victory of the season.
- Keyler Gonzalez earned the first save of his collegiate career, tossing three shutout innings and striking out three.

He gave up three in the second then four shutout innings allowing us to only us to only use one bullpen arm. Keyler was a bulldog for us, as well. Throwing three shutout innings to secure the win.”
