Baseball – Sharks Bounceback with Win over Post

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks Baseball team bounced back, following a loss on Friday night, with an 8-1 win over Post on Saturday afternoon from the NSU Baseball Complex. Collin Rothermel earned his second win of the 2024 campaign, while Tyson Cooper led the offense with a pair of hits and three runs batted in.

How it Happened
  • Tyson Cooper opened the scoring with a two-run single, giving the Sharks a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning, as NSU capitalized on a bases loaded opportunity.
  • The Sharks extended their lead to 3-0 over Post with a MC Sagaro sacrifice fly.
  • Post scored their lone run of the contest on a solo home run in the top of the fifth, putting the score at 3-1.
  • With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Henry Wallen rocketed a double down the right field line, scoring Sagaro all the way around from first, extending the lead to 4-1 over the Eagles. 
  • Nova Southeastern added four more runs in the bottom of the eight inning, Jorge Braceras and Wallen came into score after a pair of hit by pitches, before Tyler Venegas drove in Landon Lowe with a sacrifice fly. The Sharks capped off the inning with a Ryan Cainzos RBI single, scoring Cooper. 
  • Collin RothermelJarrett Bond and Pedro Acosta combined to scatter just five hits across nine innings, while striking out seven, leading NSU to the win.
