HOUSTON, Texas – Florida Atlantic baseball begins its final road series on Friday in Houston against Rice. The FAU Owls enter the weekend one game ahead of the Rice Owls in the American Conference standings with six games remaining in the regular season.

OWLS IN REVIEW

Florida Atlantic enters the weekend off back-to-back wins after a 9-6 triumph over Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday. The Owls led most of the way in their final midweek home game, but the Eagles stormed back to tie the game in the top of the eighth. Back-to-back homers from Daulton Frank (the first of his career) and John Schroeder in the bottom of the eighth quickly restored the lead. Danny Trehey worked out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth to preserve win number 24 of the regular season.

WHO’S HOT

Christian Adams is 15-for-37 across the last 10 games. He had two hits and two runs scored on Tuesday against FGCU.

Trey Beard will move back to the Saturday role – a role he started the season in – this weekend. Beard struck out six in five innings last Sunday vs. UAB.

Schroeder hit his team leading ninth home run of the season on Tuesday. The junior also leads the Owls in RBI (41).

THE OPPONENT

At 9-12, Rice is a game behind Florida Atlantic in the conference standings. The Owls are looking to rebound from consecutive midweek losses against Texas A&M and Lamar on Tuesday and Wednesday.

OPPONENT HISTORY

Florida Atlantic leads the all-time series against Rice 16-14-1. Counting last season’s CUSA Tournament, this is the third consecutive year the Owls have visited Houston. Their last loss at Reckling Park was back in 2016.

WHAT’S NEXT

The Owls complete the home-and-home series with FGCU in Fort Myers on Tuesday before hosting UTSA for the final weekend of the AAC schedule.
