| 4/11/2026 | Baseball | Box ScoreMEMPHIS, Tenn. – Florida Atlantic baseball (17-17, 4-7 American) outlasted Memphis (10-23, 3-8 American) 6-4 in 13 innings on Saturday afternoon to claim the series and set up a sweep opportunity on Sunday. THE BEGINNING The Owls scored in the first inning for the second consecutive day. After a Brett Patten sacrifice fly, John Martinez doubled the lead with an RBI double down the left field line. Nick Romano made it 3-0 with a leadoff solo home run in the third. Ian Collier followed suit in the sixth with his fifth home run of the season to put the Owls ahead 4-1. THE TURNING POINT Memphis responded in the bottom of the sixth with three runs to tie the game. From that point forward, it was all about the bullpens. Zach Kilby relieved Kide Adetuyi and gave the Owls five brilliant innings. From the seventh through the 10th, the senior conceded just an infield single. THE FINISH Tyler Murphy took the torch from Kilby in the 11th and worked around a single and a walk in the 12th inning. Meanwhile, the FAU offense finally broke through in the 13th. Singles by Collier and Martinez set the table for Eli Small with one out. Small roped a two-RBI double into the right-center field gap to put the Owls up 6-4. Murphy allowed a leadoff double in the bottom of the inning but induced three consecutive fly outs to preserve the victory. He also stole his team-leading 15th base of the season. THE ARMSAdetuyi allowed two earned runs in five innings. He struck out five and walked three.Kilby set a new career high with eight strikeouts.Murphy earned the win with three shutout innings.
