NEW ORLEANS, La. – Florida Atlantic baseball and Tulane completed five innings of their series opener on Friday night before lightning caused a halt to play. The game will resume on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET with the Owls leading 16-12 in the top of the sixth inning.
The teams traded runs in the first inning before a two-hour and 35-minute weather delay interrupted the action for the first time. The Owls proceeded to post a nine-run frame in the top of the second when play resumed. They would score another six in the fifth inning.
Tulane stayed in the game with two runs in the second, five in the third, and four in the fifth. Both teams have used six pitchers in the first five innings.
The second game of the series will commence 30 minutes after the completion of game one. Sunday’s series finale remains on schedule for 1 p.m.
