CLEARWATER, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball dropped its opening game of the American Conference Tournament 14-2 to Tulane on Tuesday night.

THE BEGINNING

The Green Wave stormed out of the gate against starter C.J. Williams for three runs in the first inning and added another four in the third.

THE TURNING POINT

Tyler Murphy came on in relief of Williams and, after working out a jam and limiting Tulane to one run, the Green Wave broke it open in the fourth. Three walks, a hit by pitch, and a grand slam added up to a six-run inning and a 13-0 score.

THE FINISH

An RBI double by Jalen DeBose to score Brando Leroux broke the shutout in the fifth. DeBose then stole third and scored on a wild throw. The offense ended there, however, and the game ended after seven innings on the run-rule.

THE BATS

  • The Owls finished with six hits. Christian Adams led the way with two singles.

THE ARMS

  • Williams was charged with seven runs in 2.2 innings.
  • Murphy recorded one out. He was tagged for four runs on one hit. He walked three.
  • Dawson Ball logged two innings with three runs on three hits.
  • He was followed out of the pen by Nicholas Del Prado who pitched a scoreless sixth.
