2/15/2025 | Baseball | Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball scored 19 unanswered runs on Saturday to clinch a series win over Delaware. After the 19-1 victory, the Owls will go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon to continue a perfect start to the season. THE BEGINNING The Owls fell behind 1-0 before the offensive floodgates opened in the bottom of the second inning. A two-out double by Patrick Ward ignited the rally. Jake Millan singled in Ward and freshman Kyle Boylston, in his first at-bat as an Owl, lined a double off the right field wall to give the Owls the lead. THE TURNING POINT Florida Atlantic would score multiple runs in six consecutive innings with Ward, Millan, and Boylston acting as the main catalysts. Ward doubled home a run in the third and Millan launched a two-run homer. Boylston singled in the sixth and then drove in two with another double in the seventh. The trio would combine to go 12-for-15 with 10 RBI and 12 runs scored. THE FINISH When Dylan LaPointe and Millan homered two batters apart in the fourth, the lead ballooned to double digits. After a two-out single by Delaware in the third inning, the Blue Hens did not record another hit until the ninth. THE BATS The Owls finished with 19 hits, including three home runs – one by Millan and two by LaPointe. Ward was 4-for-6 with three doubles. Before being subbed out in the seventh inning, Millan was 4-for-4 with five RBI. Boylston, also a member of the FAU football team, finished with a 4-for-5 line, including three runs scored, four RBI, and a stolen base. THE ARMS Tyler Murphy allowed one run in five innings to earn the win. He struck out seven. Zach Kilby, Nick Wimberly, Kide Adetuyi, and Reilly Witmer each made their FAU debuts with scoreless frames from the sixth-ninth innings.
