4/14/2025 | Baseball CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball travels to Coral Gables on Tuesday to wrap up its season series with Miami. The Owls (24-11) and the Hurricanes (20-17) have split the first two meetings. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 6 p.m. on ACC Network. OWLS IN REVIEW After sweeping ECU last weekend, the Owls lost a home series to Memphis, falling to 6-6 in American Athletic Conference play. Trey Beard struck out 11 on Friday and was named an AAC Weekly Honorable Mention for the fourth time this season. After a slow start on Sunday, the Owls’ pitching staff retired 22 straight Memphis hitters from the second through the ninth inning. Marshall Lipsey has reached base safely in 33 straight games. Joey Abbazia will make his second start of the season on Tuesday. The freshman pitched two scoreless frames in his first start against FGCU on March 25. Brando Leroux is hitting .455 in the last 16 games. He has four doubles and two home runs during that stretch. The Owls are outscoring their opponents 105-44 in the first three innings. THE OPPONENT Miami has won each of its last two conference series in the ACC – last weekend at Pittsburgh and this past weekend at home versus Duke. The Hurricanes will start righthander Reese Lumpkin on the mound against the Owls for the third straight meeting.
