3/11/2024 | Baseball BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic pitcher Tyler Murphy and catcher/outfielder John Schroeder have each been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced on Monday. Making his fourth consecutive Sunday start, Murphy was once again impressive through five innings in the finale against FIU. The sophomore did not concede a hit until the fifth and allowed just one other base runner via a walk. With his team up 21-1 after five frames, Murphy was lifted early but not before recording a career high eight strikeouts. Schroeder homered in all three games of the weekend series with FIU, including a pair of grand slams — one in the first inning on Saturday and another in the third inning Sunday. He finished the series with 10 RBI and has now taken over the team lead in that category (17). Led by Murphy and Schroeder, the Owls cruised to a 24-2 victory on Sunday to claim two out of three games against the Panthers. FAU returns to midweek action on Tuesday at home against Miami. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. For the full release from the AAC visit https://theamerican.org/sports/baseball.Weekly Honors – March 11, 2024Player of the Week Bobby Boser, Jr., INF, South FloridaPitcher of the Week Caden Favors, Sr., Wichita StateHonor Roll Tyler Waugh, Jr., OF/C, UAB Carter Cunningham, Sr., INF, East Carolina Trey Yesavage, Jr., P, East Carolina Tyler Murphy, So., P, Florida Atlantic John Schroeder, Jr., C, Florida Atlantic |
