BOCA RATON, Fla. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) has announced Florida Atlantic head coach John McCormack as part of its 2026 Hall of Fame class. McCormack and five others will be officially inducted in a ceremony in Columbus, Ohio, next January.
“This truly is a special honor,” McCormack said. “It is a little overwhelming to think of the business giants that I will be joining. I know this would not have been possible without all the players, coaches, and administrators at Florida Atlantic. I am forever grateful for all the talent, help, and guidance they have provided. This award will have my name on it, but it is a testament to the program and all that has been accomplished on and off the field.”McCormack completed his 17th year as the Owls’ head coach in 2025 and his 35th season with the program. Under his leadership, Florida Atlantic baseball has qualified for NCAA Regionals six times, captured four regular season conference championships, and one conference tournament championship. Since McCormack took the reins in 2009, the Owls have a record of 577-372-2. Since joining FAU, 105 players have extended their baseball playing career among the professional ranks, including three who are currently on a major league roster.McCormack also served on the USA Baseball coaching staff in the summer of 2024 and traveled to Ireland in the fall as an ambassador to the sport.Induction to the ABCA Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed by the American Baseball Coaches Association. For consideration, a coach must have served as a head baseball coach and been an ABCA member for a minimum of 15 years, made professional and personal contributions to the ABCA, have significantly contributed to the advancement of baseball at the local, national or international level, and should be representative of high moral character and ethical standards, excellence and leadership. The inaugural Hall of Fame class was inducted in 1966, with more than 350 individuals being honored since.
