Baker Mayfield, Edgerrin Cooper & KhaDarel Hodge Named Week 15 NFC Players of the Week

NEW YORK — Dec. 18, 2024 — Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, Green Bay Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper and Atlanta Falcons wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for Week 15 (December 12, 15-16).

OFFENSE: QB BAKER MAYFIELD, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

  • Mayfieldcompleted 22 of 27 pass attempts (81.5 percent) for 288 yards and four touchdowns with a 135.3 passer rating in the Buccaneers’ 40-17 victory at the Los Angeles Chargers. The Buccaneers 23-point win was the largest margin of victory in Week 15 and Tampa Bay did not punt on Sunday, scoring on 9-of-12 possessions in the game.
  • This is the fifth-career Offensive Player of the Week Award for Mayfield and second with Tampa Bay, becoming the fourth Buccaneers quarterback in the past 10 seasons (2015-24) to win the award multiple times, joining Tom Brady (two-time winner), Ryan Fitzpatrick (two) and Jameis Winston (two).

DEFENSE: LB EDGERRIN COOPER, GREEN BAY PACKERS

  • Cooper recorded five tackles, two tackles for loss, two passes defensed, a sack and an interception in Green Bay’s 30-13 win at Seattle on Sunday Night Football. Cooper is the first rookie linebacker to record multiple tackles for loss and passes defensed since 2016 (Nick Kwiatkoski, Week 13).
  • This is the second Defensive Player of the Week award for Cooper (Week 8), becoming the first Packers rookie and the fifth rookie ever to win Defensive Player of the Week multiple times, joining Nick Bosa (2019), Brian Cushing (2009), Kamren Kinchens (2024) and Shaquille Leonard (2018).
  • Cooper becomes the first former Texas A&M player to win Defensive Player of the Week multiple times as a rookie.

SPECIAL TEAMS: WR KHADAREL HODGE, ATLANTA FALCONS

  • Hodge tipped a punt in the first quarter, leading to a touchdown, and blocked another in the third quarter, leading to a field goal, helping Atlanta secure a 15-9 victory at Las Vegas. Hodge was the only player to record a blocked punt in a win during Week 15.
  • This is the first-career Special Teams Player of the Week award for Hodge, becoming the third Falcons wide receiver win Special Teams Player of the Week, joining Harry Douglas (Week 12, 2008) and Pro Football Hall of Famer Devin Hester (Week 3, 2014).
  • Hodge becomes the first former Prairie View A&M player to win a Player of the Week award.
