FAU loses to East Carolina

After a frustrating game, the Florida Atlantic University football team lost to East Carolina 22 to 7.
Quarterback Michael Johnson Jr. scored the only touchdown for the Owls on a three yard run. LaJohntay Wester had a 12 yard run that led to the score. Johnson has scored six touchdowns on 18 touches.
Larry McCammon III had 36 rushing yards and 20 receiving yards. He led the offense with 56 yards from scrimmage. Wester had 38 yards receiving and 12 yards rushing.
On defense, Safety Jarron Morris caught an interception for his third of the year. He leads the Owls in interceptions. The Owls defense had a strong pass rush with three sacks. They have 26 sacks on the season. The defense combined for 15 tackles for a loss. Desmond Tisdol had nine tackles and a sack. Wester had eight tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss. Evan Anderson had a sack and Kaelen Skipper had seven tackles.
Gerald Green of East Carolina scored a touchdown on an 18 yard run in the first quarter. Andrew Conrad of East Carolina had five field goals and one extra point.
Coach Tom Herman seemed frustrated during the post-game press conference. “I don’t have many answers about the game. We have a job to do and tomorrow we are going to get started,” he said.
Herman said he is continuing to work hard to lead the team to success. “We tend to have the mindset of fans and we let records and we don’t listen to our coaches and we don’t watch the film, you don’t realize how good of a football team you are about to play,” h said.
Herman continued, “This is uncharted territory for myself and most of our staff, but the one thing I do know is we played well enough for about a month there to put ourselves in position to play a Top 25 team at home with an opportunity to stay alive in the postseason and that hasn’t happened in here for three years. We still have a lot to play for and we have to get up and go tomorrow.”
Safety Jarron Morris said, “We can always play better. I know we held them to five field goals, but it wasn’t enough to win a game. We just have to eliminate more points and continue to do our job.”
Quarterback Richardson said, “Watching film all week, their record wasn’t how they played. I thought our defense played a great game. Watching them on film, they fly around the ball which they did today. They made plays all over, got penetration up front and then the secondary played really well. We have to do better, get our balls to our playmakers.”
The FAU football team is 4-6 and 3-3 in the AAC. Next week the Owls host Tulane.
