FOUR-WAY TIE
The top of the standings in the American or tight as we head into the backstretch of conference play. Through six games, four teams are tied in first place with a 5-1 record – Tulsa, Charlotte, Rice and South Florida. Another two are just one game back at 4-2 in Florida Atlantic and Wichita State. Rice is riding a five-match winning streak, while Tulsa and Charlotte have both won four straight.
WEEKEND MATCH UPS
Charlotte has a chance to separate themselves from a pack a bit with two important match ups this weekend. On Friday, the 49ers will travel to Tampa to take on South Florida in a battle of first place teams. Two days later, Charlotte will head to Boca Raton where they will take on Florida Atlantic who is just one game back. Both matches will air on ESPN+.

Two American teams rank in the Top 5 in the nation in digs per set. Tulane enters the week ranking 3rd in the country in digs per set with 17.73 while Charlotte is 4th in the nation with 17.71 digs per set. In total team digs, Temple ranks 9th in the country with 1,192 digs. Charlotte’s Annika Thompson is 5th in the nation with 5.26 digs per set.
NCAA RPI Report
Three American programs rank in the top 50 in the latest NCAA RPI Report. Tulsa leads the league at 44, while South Florida comes in at 46 and Rice is at 49.
