American Conference Football Saturday Night Notes | September 20

  • Three teams in the American remain unbeaten through Week 4 of the 2025 season (Memphis and North Texas are 4-0, Navy is 3-0).
  • The only conferences with multiple unbeaten teams are the American, the ACC, the Big Ten, the Big 12 and the SEC.
  • Eleven of the American’s 14 teams are at .500 or better through Week 4.
  • Memphis has won its last eight games after the Tigers’ 32-31 victory against Arkansas. The Tigers have sole possession of the nation’s longest active winning streak after Illinois lost to Indiana and Ohio State was idle this week.
  • Memphis’ comeback from an 18-point deficit was the largest comeback by an FBS team this season.
  • Memphis has won its last four home games against SEC teams (Ole Miss in 2015 and 2019, Mississippi State in 2021 and Arkansas in 2025).
  • Memphis extended its streak of scoring at least 20 points to 44 consecutive games, the longest active streak nationally.
  • North Texas is 4-0 foe the first time since 2018. If the Mean Green defeats South Alabama next week, UNT would earn its first 5-0 start since 1977.
  • North Texas is 12-0 under coach Eric Morris when leading after three quarters.
  • North Texas RB Makenzie McGill II has scored a touchdown in seven consecutive games.
  • North Texas RB Caleb Hawkins had four rushing touchdowns against Army, tying the program’s single-game record.
  • Rice stands at 3-1 through four games for the first time since 2001.
  • Scott Abell is the first Rice head coach with a 3-1 start to his tenure since Bo Hogan in 1967.
  • Tulsa registered its first win against Oklahoma State since 1998 and scored its first win against the Cowboys in Stillwater since 1951.
  • UTSA RB Robert Henry Jr. registered his sixth consecutive 100-yard game in the Roadrunners’ 17-16 win at Colorado State. Henry, the leading rusher in FBS entering the game, had 144 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.
  • Army lost its first American Conference game, ending the Black Knights’ eight-game winning streak in regular-season conference play.
  • South Florida tied an American Conference record with its 35-point third quarter in its win against South Carolina State.
  • South Florida LB Mac Harris’ 93-yard interception return against South Carolina State was the longest in program history.
