BULLS WIN AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP
South Florida defeated Rice, 69-62, in the 2025 American Women’s Basketball Championship final on Wednesday evening, March 12, at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. This is South Florida’s second American Athletic Conference Championship win, becoming the second team in conference history to win multiple tournament titles (UConn, 7)
SOUTH FLORIDA SELECTED AS 12 SEED
After winning its second American Athletic Conference women’s basketball tournament championship, South Florida earned the No. 12 seed in the Birmingham Region 3 in the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship, announced on the NCAA selection show on Sunday. The Bulls will take on No. 5 seed Tennessee on March 21 in Columbus, Ohio at 8 p.m.
UTSA HEADED TO WBIT
American Athletic Conference regular season champion UTSA has been selected to the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT). The Roadrunners earned the automatic bid from The American. UTSA (26-4) will open the WBIT against No. 4 seed Gonzaga (22-10) on March 20 in Spokane, Washington at 9 p.m. ET. The Roadrunners had an historic season, breaking the single season wins record and winning their first American Athletic Conference regular season championship, and first conference title since 2008-09.
THREE AMERICAN TEAMS EARN WNIT BID
UAB, North Texas and Tulsa will all play postseason basketball in the WNIT. Tulsa will play at Lindenwood on Thursday, March 20 at 8 p.m. ET, while UAB will head to UIC on Friday, March 21 at 8 p.m. North Texas earned a first round bye and awaits the winner of UT Arlington and UIW on Sunday, March 23.
