American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Release – January 21

ROADRUNNERS STAND ALONE

Seven games into conference play and the UTSA Roadrunners stand alone in first place as the final undefeated team in conference action at 7-0. UTSA will only play one game this week, hosting Tulsa on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

HITTING THE GLASS

American teams have shown the ability to rebound among the best in the country this season. Seven of the top 100 teams in rebounding are in The American.  Florida Atlantic is 26th with 41.7 rebounds per game, followed by Tulane (39th, 40.9), UTSA (56th, 40.3), Rice (63rd, 39.9), East Carolina (67th, 39.8), Tulsa (79th, 39.3) and North Texas (100th, 38.7).

SOUTH FLORIDA-TULANE POSTPONED

Due to forecasted weather in New Orleans, the game between South Florida and Tulane scheduled for Wednesday, January 22 has been postponed. The two schools are working to evaluate options and reschedule the game at a later date.

JENKINS WINS THIRD STRAIGHT AMERICAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

For a third straight week, UTSA redshirt-senior forward Jordyn Jenkins has been named The American Player of the Week. With six total honors in her career, she now has the 7th most Player of the Week honors in American history.  Her five this season are tied for the most won in a single season (Breanna Steward, UConn, 2015-16).

AMERICAN IN THE NET

Two teams rank in the Top 100 of the current NET rankings with UTSA leading the pack at 63.  South Florida is just behind at 67, while Temple sits just outside the Top 100 at 103.
