American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Release – January 19

TOP TEAMS KEEP PACE

All four teams with one conference loss on the season won their midweek games to keep pace with each other. All four will be in action again this weekend with Rice traveling to Tulane and North Texas traveling to South Florida on Saturday.  Charlotte and UAB will be in action on Sunday, with the 49ers traveling to Temple and UAB hosting UTSA, with the Roadrunners sitting just one game back from the top.

FROM BEHIND THE ARC

The American features three players who are lethal from behind the arc. South Florida’s Vittoria Blasigh, Memphis’ Madison Griggs and Tulsa’s Delanie Crawford all rank in the Top 16 in the NCAA in made three-pointers. Blasigh is ranked 6th with 55 on the year, Griggs is 13th with 49 and Crawford is 16th with 48.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

UAB’s redshirt sophomore guard Mia Moore is one of three guards in the NCAA averaging a double-double, along with Arkansas’ Saylor Poffenbarger and Georgia Southern’s Terren Ward. Moore is averaging 16.3 points and 10 rebounds per game. Her 10 rebounds per game currently leads The American.

LAMPKIN’S EFFECIENT SHOOTING

North Texas senior forward Tommisha Lampkin has been an integral part of the Mean Green’s early success this year. Lampkin currently leads The American and is fifth in the NCAA in field goal percentage, connecting on 65.8 percent of her shots.

THE AMERICAN IN THE NET

North Texas (79) and Rice (97) sit at the top of the NET rankings in The American through January 17.  Charlotte (103), East Carolina (105), Temple (110) and South Florida (113).
