The final week of non-conference action will be this week for all teams except East Carolina. South Florida will take on No. 10 Baylor on Thursday in West Palm, Florida to wrap up their non-conference schedule, while Rice will look to pick up a road win at Houston on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Conference play will begin on December 30th for 12 of the 14 teams, with East Carolina hosting No. 1 South Carolina.
JOYNER’S CAREER PERFORMANCE
East Carolina’s sophomore forward Amiya Joyner put on a masterful performance to open the week, helping the Pirates defeat George Mason on Monday by recording her first double-double of the season. She scored 27 points, while pulling down 16 rebounds and recording six blocks.
MOORE DOING IT ALL FOR BLAZERS
UAB redshirt-sophomore guard Mia Moore has been a stat machine this season. The 5-foot-6 guard has notched five double-doubles on the season, including four in the last five games. Moore leads The American in rebounds per game at 9.9, while ranking 4th in scoring at 18.4 points per game.
MEAN GREEN OFF TO HISTORIC START
With a 10-1 record under first year head coach Jason Burton, the North Texas Mean Green are off to the best start in program history. North Texas has won eight straight games and will look to continue their winning ways on Thursday at Montana State.
THE AMERICAN IN THE NET
American teams are rising in the NCAA NET rankings as non-conference play comes to an end. North Texas leads the league with a NET ranking of 61, with East Carolina closely behind at 66. Rice follows at 95, while Temple is just outside the Top 100 at 104.
