Action in The American will commence on Tuesday when UAB hosts South Carolina State at 1 p.m. ET. South Florida will host No. 3/4 NC State on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. Coming off a win over (RV) Southern Miss, Memphis will look to gain another quality win over (RV) Mississippi State on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Memphis. All games will be aired on ESPN+.
FERNANDEZ REACHES 450 CAREER WINS
South Florida head coach Jose Fernandez won his 450th career game in a 105-75 win over Gardner-Webb. Fernandez has the second most all-time wins as a member of The American with 239 wins, just 13 shy of Geno Auriemma’s (UConn; 2013-20) record of 252.
NELSON REACHES 500 ASSISTS
Fifth Year Temple guard Aleah Nelson reached the 500-career assist mark during Sunday’s win over Penn. Over the past two seasons with the Owls, Nelson has accumulated 173 assists. She had 300 assists in two seasons at Towson, while adding 27 during her freshman year at Cincinnati.
MEAN GREEN OFF TO HISTORIC START
With a 9-1 record under first year head coach Jason Burton, the North Texas Mean Green are off to the best start in program history. North Texas has won seven straight games and will look to continue their winning ways on Sunday at Louisiana.
BLASIGH’S CAREER NIGHT
South Florida’s Vittoria Blasigh scored a career-high 31 points in South Florida’s win over Gardner-Webb. She becomes the first freshman since East Carolina’s Ariyan Williams (2017-18) to score 30+ points and just the fourth freshman in The American to reach 30 points in a game (South Florida’s Kitija Laksa, 2015-16; Temple’s Alliya Butts, 2014-15).
