IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the week-ending Oct. 28.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Preston Stone • So. • QB • SMU
Stone engineered scoring drives on all seven of his possessions, including six touchdowns, as the Mustangs took a 69-10 win against Tulsa to remain tied atop the American Athletic Conference standings. Stone completed 15 of 20 passes for a career-high 371 yards and three touchdowns before leaving the game prior to the final series of the first half, with SMU holding a 52-3 lead. Stone averaged 24.7 yards per completion and 18.6 yards per play, which ranks second on The American’s single-game chart.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Trey Moore • So. • LB • UTSA
Moore had a team-high seven tackles, including three sacks, to lead UTSA to a 41-27 win against East Carolina, keeping the Roadrunners tied atop the American Athletic Conference standings. Moore’s three sacks totaled 20 yards in lost yardage and give him a program-record 12 for the season, leading all FBS players and ranking fourth on The American’s single-season chart.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Valentino Ambrosio • Sr. • K • Tulane
Ambrosio scored 12 points, making three field goals and adding three PATs to help Tulane to a 30-28 win at Rice as the Green Wave remained tied atop the American Athletic Conference standings. All three of Ambrosio’s field goals were from outside of 40 yards as he connected from 44, 41 and 43 yards. His 43-yard kick in the fourth quarter accounted for the winning margin as Tulane improved to 7-1.
