RACKING UP WINS
East Carolina has started the season with 11 wins through two weeks – the most wins in NCAA Division I entering the third week of competition. The Pirates got to their 11th win of the season in a 6-0 win over Longwood on Sunday. East Carolina will play their next 12 games at home.
TURNING TWO
Through nine games, the UAB Blazers are ranked second in the nation in double plays per game. They are averaging just under one double player per game (.89), trailing on Baylor.
OWLS PICK UP IMPRESSIVE WINS
Florida Atlantic came away with two wins over teams receiving votes in national polls last weekend, defeating Louisville 10-2 on Friday before taking down Michigan 1-0 on Saturday. Trinity Schlotterbeck earned both wins for the Owls and finished the week with a 0.84 ERA across 16.2 innings pitched.
RIBBIE MACHINE
East Carolina graduate utility Morgan Johnson went on the offensive last week, helping lead East Carolina to five wins in six games. The Clemson transfer finished the weekend with 16 RBI and had multiple RBI in three of the six games played, including six RBI against Marshall. She currently leads the nation with 21 runs batted in in 12 games played.
ON DECK IN THE AMERICAN
American teams will face off against top competition again this weekend. South Florida will take on a pair of top ten squads on Thursday when they host #4/4 Washington and #7/8 Oklahoma State. Charlotte will take on #9/9 Clemson on Wednesday and #17/18 South Carolina on Sunday. Wichita State will travel to Fayetteville to take on #15/14 Arkansas on Friday and Saturday, while UTSA will take on #18/17 Texas A&M in College Station on Sunday.
