FLORIDA ATLANTIC IN THE POLLS
The Florida Atlantic Owls continue to be ranked as we head into another weekend of action. They top the charts at 21 in the D1Softball poll. They are also ranked 23 in the NFCA/GoRout Coaches Poll. The Owls are receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.
BATTLE FOR THE TOP
Top seeded Florida Atlantic will take on second place South Florida this weekend in Boca Raton. The Owls hold a 2.5 game lead over the Bulls and have won every conference series this season. South Florida is coming off their first series that was not won, as they split with Wichita State. The first game is scheduled for Friday, April 4 at 6 p.m. ET.
SHOCKERS, BULLS TIE
The first tie in The American since 2022 occurred on Sunday as South Florida and Wichita State tied 7-7. The Bulls rallied in the 7th inning, scoring five runs to tie the game at seven before holding the Shockers scoreless in the bottom frame, resulting in a tie due to it being the get-away day.
LAMBERT TOPS THE NATION
Florida Atlantic pitcher Ainsley Lambert leads the nation in saves this season, earning seven thus far. The senior holds a 1.57 ERA across 44..2 innings pitched this season. She is one save away from tying the record for most saves in a season – which she set a season ago.
LATEST RPI RANKINGS
Five American Athletic Conference teams rank in the top 55 in the latest NCAA RPI Rankings. Florida Atlantic sits atop the conference at 29, while South Florida is at 41. Charlotte comes in at 47, followed by followed by Wichita State (53) and North Texas (55). The American is the 5th ranked conference in RPI behind only the SEC, ACC, Big 12 and Big Ten.
