Mustangs Clinch Share of Title
A win over UAB last Friday clinched a share of The American regular season title for SMU. With one match remaining and a three-point lead over second-place FIU, the Mustangs will need a win or a draw against Temple to clinch the title outright and the number one seed in the upcoming men’s soccer championship. SMU will take on Temple at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Panthers Move Into Second Place
Using a 2-0 win over Charlotte last Friday, defending conference champions FIU moved into second place in The American. The Panthers still have a chance at the number one seed for the conference tournament but will need some help. A win and loss from SMU will give the Panthers a chance to host the tournament for a second straight season. FIU takes on Tulsa at 8 p.m. ET on Friday on ESPN+.
Memphis Clinches Spot In Tournament
The Memphis Tigers used a 2-1 win over South Florida on Friday to clinch a spot in the conference tournament, joining SMU, FIU and Charlotte. Memphis can be as high as the third seed with a win over Charlotte on Wednesday night.
Teams Jockeying For Final Tournament Spots
Four teams will be vying for the final two spots in the men’s soccer conference tournament beginning on Sunday. Three points is all that separates Florida Atlantic, South Florida, Temple and Tulsa. Two of those teams – Florida Atlantic and South Florida – will play each other at Wednesday, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Tulsa host second-place FIU, while Temple will travel to Dallas to take on SMU with both matches beginning at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
