Four American Teams Earn NCAA Bids

Four American Athletic Conference men’s soccer teams have earned bids to the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship. Charlotte, Memphis, FIU and SMU are all headed to the national tournament.

This marks the seventh time that multiple teams from The American have received bids to the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship.

In the first round, Charlotte will host High Point, FIU will host Mercer and Memphis will host SIUE. All games will be played on Thursday, November 16.

The Mustangs earned the No. 6 overall seed and a first round bye. They will play the winner of Denver and LIU on Sunday, November 19.

Charlotte Wins Conference Championship

The Charlotte 49ers men’s soccer teams used a 2-1 victory over top-seeded SMU to win the 2023 American Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship to earn their first American Athletic Conference championship in their second year in the league.

Dallmann, Pilcher Named MOP at American Tournament

SMU graduate forward Jelldrik Dallmann and Charlotte junior defender Ian Pilcher were named the Most Outstanding Players at the 2023 American Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship.

Dallmann tied the tournament record with four goals, including recording the second hat trick in tournament history in the 3-0 win over No. 4 Memphis.

Pilcher played a vital role in the championship win over SMU, scoring a goal in the 22nd minute. Pilcher played the full 180 minutes in the two matches.
