GOING DANCIN’
Two American Athletic Conference squads were selected to the NCAA Tournament in the East Region. The American has been a multi-bid NCAA Tournament league in every year since its reconstitution ahead of the 2013-14 season.
Florida Atlantic received a No. 8 seed and will face No. 9 Northwestern Friday, March 22 at 12:15 p.m. ET on CBS. UAB was selected as a No. 12 seed and will face No. 5 San Diego State Friday at 1:45 p.m. ET on TNT.

Florida Atlantic and South Florida both received votes in the final AP Top 25.
UAB WINS FIRST AMERICAN TITLE
No. 4 UAB captured the American Men’s Basketball Championship in its first year in the league, taking down Temple, 85-69, in the final on March 17.
Yaxel Lendeborg was named the Most Outstanding Player and was joined on the All-Championship Team by teammates Alejandro Vasquez, who had 29 points in the final, and Eric Gaines, along with Temple’s Hysier Miller and Steve Settle III.
OWLS MAKE MEMORABLE RUN
Temple became the third team in Division I conference tournament history by playing five games in five days. The No. 11 seeded Owls defeated No. 14 UTSA (64-61), No. 6 SMU (75-60), No. 3 Charlotte (58-54) and No. 2 Florida Atlantic (74-73) on the way to the final against UAB.
The Owls were the lowest seed to make the American Championship final and the first team to win four games in four days at the American Championship.
CRASHING THE GLASS
UAB’s Yaxel Lendeborg has set a new single-season AAC record for rebounds with 363, breaking the previous mark of 346 by Alexis Yetna of South Florida in 2018-19.
