Temple defeated No. 18 Memphis, 88-81, on January 16, the first win over a nationally-ranked opponent for the Owls since defeating No. 1 Houston on January 23, 2023.

UTSA’s Primo Spears became the sixth player in conference history to score 40 points in a game, dropping 40 against Tulsa on January 7.
Memphis’ PJ Haggerty is third in Division I in scoring with 22.3 points per contest, while Spears is fifth with 21.7 points per game and Temple’s Jamal Mashburn Jr. is ninth at 20.7.
Against East Carolina on January 11, Haggerty became the 57th player to reach 1,000 points while playing in The American.
