Memphis is up one spot to No. 18 in the latest AP Top 25 and up three places to No. 17 in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE

UAB’s Yaxel Lendeborg is tied for fifth in Division I with 10 double-doubles on the season. He is fourth all-time in The American with 29 career double-doubles.

For the second season in a row, Lendeborg is averaging a double-double, with 16.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.

POURING IN THE POINTS

UTSA’s Primo Spears became the sixth player in conference history to score 40 points in a game, dropping 40 against Tulsa on January 7.

Memphis’ PJ Haggerty is third in Division I in scoring with 22.2 points per contest, while Spears is sixth with 21.4 points per game and Temple’s Jamal Mashburn Jr. is 10th at 20.7.

Against East Carolina on January 11, Haggerty became the 57th player to reach 1,000 points while playing in The American.

CLAMPING DOWN ON DEFENSE

North Texas ranks fifth in Division I in scoring defense at 58.7 points per game allowed. The Mean Green lead The American in turnover margin at +3.8 per contest.

ON THE RUN

UAB is tops in Division I with 19.12 fastbreak points per game. UTSA is eighth with 17.47 points per game on the break, partly due to averaging 10.0 steals per game, which ranks 12th in Division I.
