American Athletic Conference Announces Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, December 31.

Player of the Week

Tre’Zure Jobe, R-Sr., G, Wichita State

Jobe helped lead the Shockers to a win over Tulane to open American Athletic Conference play. She scored the final eight points for the Shockers in the final 1:41 of action.  Jobe scored 13 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter, while also dishing out a total of eight assists.

Freshman of the Week

Vittoria Blasigh, Fr., G, South Florida

Blasigh helped the Bulls win their American Athletic Conference opener with a 16-point performance against SMU.  She added three assists and finished with four rebounds in the win.

Weekly Honor Roll

Denim DeShields, So., G, UAB

DeShields scored 16 points in UAB’s win over Florida Atlantic to guide the Blazers to their first American Athletic Conference win.

Dazia Lawrence, R-Jr., G, Charlotte

Lawrence scored 23 points on 11-of-20 shooting to guide the 49ers to their first conference win as part of The American.

Evelien Lutje Schipholt, Sr., F, South Florida

Lutje Schipholt scored 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting, while adding eight rebounds and two steals in the win over SMU.

Mady Cartwright, Fr., G, Tulsa

Cartwright led the Golden Hurricane to a win over Memphis, scoring 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

Delanie Crawford, Jr., G, Tulsa

Crawford helped Tulsa win their American Athletic Conference opener, scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in a win over Memphis.
