American Athletic Conference Announces Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, December 4.

Player of the Week

Danae McNeal, Gr., G, East Carolina

McNeal led the Pirates to a 2-0 week with wins over Hampton and Coppin State. She averaged 24 points, six steals and four rebounds.  In the win over Hampton, McNeal scored 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting, while adding seven steals on the defensive end.

Freshman of the Week

Jade Weathersby, Fr., F, UAB

Weathersby scored double-digits in all three games for the Blazers, including a 17-point game against Auburn.  In three games, she averaged 13.7 points and 8.3 rebounds to help guide the Blazers to a pair of wins.

Weekly Honor Roll

Mia Moore, R-So., G, UAB

Moore averaged a double-double, scoring 15.3 points and grabbing 11.3 rebounds across three games.

Dazia Lawrence, R-Jr., G, Charlotte

Lawrence averaged 19.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in two games for the 49ers, including a weekend-high 22 points against Mercer.

Tommisha Lampkin, Sr., F, North Texas

In the lone game for the Mean Green, Lampkin scored 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting, while adding five rebounds and two steals.

Dominique Ennis, So., G, Rice

Ennis averaged 19.5  and 4.5 rebounds as she led the Owls to a pair of wins over Texas Southern and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Evelien Lutje Schipholt, Sr., F, South Florida

Lutje Schipholt helped guide the Bulls to a win over Charleston Southern, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
