American Athletic Conference Announces Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, December 29.

Player of the Week

Delanie Crawford, Sr., G, Tulsa

Crawford had a career game in the conference season opener, scoring a career-high 36 points on 14-of-20 shooting. She also led Tulsa with seven rebounds and added four steals in the win over East Carolina.

Freshman of the Week

Sadie Shores, Fr., G, Tulane

Shores scored a career-high 16 points while going a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc in the conference opening win over Florida Atlantic. Shores added six rebounds and five assists.

Honorable Mention

Desiree Wooten, So., G, North Texas

Wooten padded the stats, scoring 12 points, while dishing out six assists and grabbing eight rebounds in the win over Wichita State.

Sammie Puisis, Gr., G, South Florida

Puisis led all scorers with 23 points to guide the Bulls to a conference opening win over Rice.

Jaleesa Molina, So., F, Temple

Molina recorded a career-high 17 points and 10 rebounds to record her first career double-double in the win over UAB.

Jordyn Jenkins, R-Sr., F, UTSA

Jenkins scored 18 points on 50 percent shooting, while adding five rebounds, two assists and two blocks in the win over Charlotte.

Amira Mabry, Jr., F, Tulane

Mabry scored a career-high 26 points (12-of-18), while adding 11 rebounds, to guide the Green Wave past Florida Atlantic.
