IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, November 24.
Player of the Week
Amiya Joyner, Jr., F, East Carolina
Joyner had a monster performance for the Pirates in the win against Howard. The junior forward scored 32 points on 62 percent shooting while grabbing 15 rebounds. It is the first 30/15 game for a Pirate since 2004.
Freshman of the Week
Kendall Sneed, Fr., G, Tulane
Sneed helped lead Tulane to a win over Jackson State, scoring 15 points on 67 percent shooting, while adding 11 rebounds to record a double-double. On the week she averaged 10 points and 7.5 rebounds.
Honorable Mention
Hayleigh Breland, Jr., G, Charlotte
Breland scored 30 points in the win over Gardner-Webb, going 6-for-8 from behind the arc.
Tommisha Lampkin, Sr., F, North Texas
Lampkin averaged 17 points and 9.5 rebounds across two wins over Northwestern State and Houston.
Vittoria Blasigh, So., G, South Florida
Blasigh averaged 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games for the Bulls. In the win over Jacksonville she scored 24 points.
Jordyn Jenkins, R-Sr., G/F, UTSA
Jenkins scored 16 points and brought down seven rebounds UTSA’s win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
Kyren Whittington, R-Sr., G, Tulane
Whittington had a huge week, averaging 23 points and six rebounds in games against LSU and Jackson State.
