IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, November 10.
Offensive Player of the Week
Samarah Hill, 6th, OH, Rice
Hill averaged 5.19 points per set at a .352 clip to lead the Owls to wins over Wichita State and UAB. She had a weekend-high 29 kills in the win over the Shockers.
Defensive Player of the Week
Hikalani Kaohelaulil, Gr., L/DS, Temple
Kaohelaulil finished with 6.83 digs per set in a pair of wins over Tulane and North Texas. She had 29 digs along in the 3-0 win over the Mean Green. The 6.83 digs per set was the 7th best in the NCAA this week.
Setter of the Week
Savannah Skopal, Fr., S, Rice
Skopal paced the Owls with 12.38 assists per set, finishing with 99 on the week. She led the league in both total assists and assists per set.
Freshman of the Week
Sydney Jones, Fr., OH, Temple
Jones averaged 5.33 points per set while hitting .299 in a pair of wins. She finished with 15 kills at a .406 clip against the Mean Green.
Honorable Mention
Christiana Greene, Fr., OH, Temple
Greene helped keep the Owls tournament chances alive, averaging 4.42 points per set while hitting .432 in wins over Tulane and North Texas.
Lexi Yoza, So., S, Temple
Yoza paced the Owls with 12.17 assists per set in a pair of sweeps. She finished with 73 total assists and no errors.
Brayden Hipp, Jr., S, Tulsa
Operating out of a 6-2 rotation, Hipp paced the Golden Hurricane to a pair of wins with 6.86 assists per set.
Tytiana Johnson, Sr., MB, Tulsa
Johnson averaged 1.57 blocks per set in a pair of wins over East Carolina and Charlotte. She finished with 10 blocks against the 49ers.
Morgan Stout, R-Sr., MB, Wichita State
Stout averaged 5.56 points per set at a .364 clip. She finished with over 20 points in both matches.
