IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, September 17.
Offensive Player of the Week
Kayley Cassaday, Gr., OH, Tulsa
Cassaday repeats as The American Offensive Player of the Week following another dominating week. The outside hitter averaged 6.29 points pers et and 5.93 kills per set to help the Golden Hurricane pick up a pair of wins. She finished with double-doubles against Ole Miss and Sam Houston
Defensive Player of the Week
Marta Pecalli, Jr., L, Tulsa
For a second straight week Pecalli has been named The American Defensive Player of the Week. In the win over Ole Miss, she finished with 27 digs and added 31 digs in the five-set win over Sam Houston. On the week, the junior libero averaged 5.43 digs per set.
Weekly Honor Roll
Danyle Courtley, Sr., OH, Rice
Courtley guided the Owls to a pair of wins over LIU and Kansas State, averaging 5.05 points per set and 4.45 kills per set, while holding a .316 attack percentage.
Amanda DeWitt, Jr., RS, South Florida
The right-side led the Bulls to a 3-0 week, averaging 3.88 points per set and 3.42 kills per set, while adding 0.75 blocks per set on the defensive side.
Jamison Wheeler, Jr., OH, SMU
Wheeler finished with at least 16 kills in all three matches as the Mustangs earned wins over Texas Tech, Texas A&M – Corpus Christi and LSU.
Makenna Wiepert, Fr., S, UTSA
The freshman setter averaged 12.17 assists per set in a pair of wins for the Roadrunners, helping the team hit .368 for the week.
Natalie Foster, Jr., MB, Wichita State
Foster had double-digit kills in all three matches to help the Shockers pick up three wins. She added one block per set on defense to add to her offensive point total.
