IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, October 27.
Offensive Player of the Week
Morgan Stout, R-Sr., MB, Wichita State
Stout led the Shockers to a pair of wins, averaging 6.06 points per set, while hitting .388 from her middle blocker position. She had a weekend high 22 kills in the win over UAB.
Defensive Player of the Week
Marta Pecalli, Sr., L, Tulsa
Pecalli anchored the Tulsa defense with 5.83 digs per set. She finished the weekend with zero reception errors in sweeps over UAB and Memphis.
Setter of the Week
Brayden Hipp, Jr., S, Tulsa
Operating out of a 6-2 rotation, Gilreath finished with 6.67 assists per set to help lead the Golden Hurricane past UAB and Memphis. She added 3.38 digs per set on defense.
Freshman of the Week
Sydney Jones, Fr., OH, Temple
Jones averaged 5.75 points per set over three matches. She finished with 24 kills against Ride and had double-digit kills in all three matches.
Honorable Mention
Fran McBride, Gr., RS, East Carolina
McBride Averaged 4.35 points per set in a pair of wins over Charlotte and Florida Atlantic.
Katrina Jensen, Gr., OH, Rice
Jensen led the Owls to wins over Tulane and Temple, scoring 4.43 points per set.
Nia McCardell, 5th, L, Rice
McCardell anchored the Owls defense with 5.71 digs per set in wins over Tulane and Temple.
Taylor Davenport, Gr., OH, Temple
Davenport averaged 5.28 points per set while hitting .337 from her outside hitter position.
Beth Bayless, Jr., OH, Tulsa
Bayless had an all-around weekend, averaging 3.33 kills per set and 2.50 digs per set in a pair of wins.
