American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, March 10.

Player of the Week

Trinity Schlotterbeck, Gr., P/OF, Florida Atlantic

Schlotterbeck was instrumental as the Owls won the opening American conference series against Wichita State. In Sunday’s series deciding game, Schlotterbeck went 4-for-4 with three home runs, four runs scored and nine RBI.

Pitcher of the Week

Maura Moore, Jr., Tulsa

Moore threw a five-inning no-hitter against Memphis, striking out six batters as the Golden Hurricane took down the Tigers 9-0 in the opening win of a weekend sweep.

Weekly Honor Roll

Leigha Kirby, Sr., P, UAB

Kirby tossed a seven-inning two-hitter against UTSA, allowing just one run and striking out two batters.

Lindsey Smith, Jr., INF, UAB

Smith scored two runs in every game and had one RBI in all three games in the series sweep of UTSA.

Kiyah Garrett, Jr., OF, Charlotte

Garrett averaged .455 at the plate with 7 RBI, 4 runs scored and two home runs, while leading the 49ers to a series win over South Florida.

Mikayla Smith, Sr., INF, North Texas

Smith hit .500 on the week with four RBI and three runs scored as the Mean Green swept East Carolina.

Haley Morgan, Sr., CF, Tulsa

Morgan finished the week with six RBI and three runs scored, while batting .500 at the plate in the series sweep of Memphis.
