American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, February 25.

Player of the Week

CC Wong, Sr., INF, Wichita State

Wong was a force at the plate for the Shockers, capturing a hit in all five games, including multiple hits in three of the games.  She finished with two or more RBI in all five games and helped the Shockers earn a road win over No. 15 Arkansas.

Pitcher of the Week

Chloe Barber, Fr., Wichita State

Barber held a 0.93 ERA across three appearances.  She earned complete game wins against No. 15 Arkansas and Illinois State where she combined for 31 strikeouts.  In her two starts, she allowed just seven combined hits.

Weekly Honor Roll

Taylor Apple, Fr., P, East Carolina

Apple tossed ten shutout innings across three games for the Pirates. She finished the weekend with 14 strikeouts and just two hits allowed.

Georgeanne Barefoot, R-Jr., P, Charlotte

Barefoot struck out 21 batters across 16.2 innings pitched. She earned a win in relief against James Madison.

Jesiana Mora, So., INF, Florida Atlantic

Mora held a .706 batting average, finishing the weekend with four doubles and six RBI.

Trinity Schlotterbeck, Gr., P, Florida Atlantic

Schlotterbeck held a 0.74 ERA across 19 innings pitched, striking out 13 batters along the way.

MacKenzie Childers, So., P, North Texas

Childers tossed her first career no-hitter, striking out eight batters across eight innings against New Mexico.

Imani Edwards, Sr., SS, Tulsa

Edwards batted .500, recording a hit in all five games for the Golden Hurricane. She ended the weekend with seven RBI.
