IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, April 27.
Player of the Week
Lauren Lucas, Gr., OF, Wichita State
Lucas had a monster week for the Shockers, driving in nine runs and scoring another eight times. She had a hit, RBI and run scored in every game, which included a home run in each game. Her two home runs in the series clinching win against Charlotte on Sunday was the second of the season.
Pitcher of the Week
Ava Eldridge, Fr., UTSA
Eldridge earned three wins for the Roadrunners in three complete game efforts. For the week, she tossing 21.2 innings in the circle, finishing with a 1.29 ERA. She picked up two wins against Tulsa to help UTSA earn the conference series win.
Honorable Mention
Lindsey Smith, Sr., 3B, UAB
Smith knocked in seven runs and helped the Blazers earn a series win over East Carolina, slugging .944 on the week.
Savanna Nguyen, Jr., INF, Charlotte
Nguyen had a hit in every game in the series against Wichita State, while also driving in four runs.
Jesiana Mora, Jr., 3B, Florida Atlantic
Mora slashed .800/.833/1.400 in the series win over Memphis, recording a hit and scoring a run in all three games.
Kailyn Bearpaw, Sr., OF, North Texas
Bearpaw tied the single-game American record with five hits in Sunday’s game against South Florida.
Josie Foreman, Sr., C/UTL, South Florida
Foreman hit .714 in the two wins against North Texas, driving in four runs and scoring three additional times.
